Universe City is an exhibiton of projected art video works in various settings within and outside the Fine Arts Gallery of CSULA from January 29th to February 26th, 2011. The exhibition features artists from Los Angeles, as well as many as from different cities throughout the world. Opening reception, January 29, 2011 - 6-9pm

The idea of Universe City is to visually connect video art with people who may or may not be familiar with the buidlings on CSULA campus; to promote visual literacy of contemporary art and video, and invite cross-academic and cultural dialog among campus goers, as well as the larger art world of Los Angeles.

during the January to February, videos will be projected in THREE AREAS

in Gallery A, on the model:

A generalized cardboard model is installed in the main gallery; white three-dimensional forms resembling the buildings, structures, and the rough layout of CSULA. Video works are projected on the various surfaces of this model, spilling over onto other video works which are projected simultaneously. Each artist video is featured individually in an adjacent room within the gallery. (see below)

in Gallery B, on the wall:

In Gallery B is sectioned room off the main gallery. Single channel videos from all artists are screened. This area offers a large flat wall, for clear, comprehensive viewing of each video. All video works in the exhibition are featured in Gallery B with audio.

outdoors, on the Palmer Wing South facade:

Selected works are also be projected on the external facade of the Palmer Wing South (connected to the library building) -a three story blank wall which sits facing the Fine Arts building. Different videos are be projected each day, Monday through Thursday, and also Sat. Feb 26th, from 6-9pm.
