Emily Hubley has made acclaimed animated shorts for thirty years and provided animation to television, fictional and documentary films for over a decade. Her first feature film THE TOE TACTIC (2008) screened at film festivals including South by Southwest and New Directors/New Films.
EMILY HUBLEY SHORTS PROGRAM Approx. 60 min. Emily Hubley's hand-drawn films explore memory and the turbulence of emotional life. Her narration delivers concrete stories while visual elements question and embellish the meaning of specific ideas. This program includes "Pigeon Within," "Windy Day," "The Tower" (a collaboration with her sister Georgia Hubley), "One Self: Fish/Girl," "Rainbows Of Hawai'i," "Her Grandmother's Gift" (a collaboration with her mother, animator Faith Hubley) and "Tender Game".
L.A. Premiere! THE TOE TACTIC, 2008, Orchard Pictures, 90 min. Mona is a woman in mourning whose emotional plight becomes the subject of a card game played in another dimension by four animated dogs. Over the course of a magical weekend, the dogs' mischief helps Mona to reconcile her loss and reconnect with her world.
